Isolation and characterization of novel EST-SSRs in the showy dendrobium, Dendrobium nobile (Orchidaceae).
Expressed sequence tag (EST)-derived simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers could enrich the current resource of molecular markers. In this study, microsatellite markers were developed for Dendrobium nobile Lindl. by mining the ESTs. Twenty-eight EST-SSRs amplified 2 to 6 nucleotide repeats with a mean number of 2.82 alleles per locus. The observed and expected heterozygosities per locus ranged f...
متن کاملSubchronic and Genetic Safety Assessment of a New Medicinal Dendrobium Species: Dendrobium Taiseed Tosnobile in Rats
Dendrobium Taiseed Tosnobile is a new species of herba dendrobii (Shi-Hu) that was developed by crossbreeding D. tosaense and D. nobile. Its pharmacological activity and active component have been reported, but its subchronic toxicity and genetic safety have not yet been investigated. This study assessed the 90-day oral toxicity and genetic safety of the aqueous extracts of D. Taiseed Tosnobile...
متن کاملDendrobium naungmungense (Orchidaceae, Dendrobieae), a new species from Kachin State, Myanmar
Dendrobium naungmungense, a new species from Naungmung, Kachin State, North Myanmar, is described and illustrated. It is morphologically similar to D. ciliatilabellum and D. vexabile, but the epichile is oblong with three long-ciliate laminae and the column wing has significant denticulation. A preliminary risk-of-extinction assessment shows that the new species should be regarded as Critically...
متن کاملA new bibenzyl from Dendrobium secundum.
From the aerial parts of Dendrobium secundum, a new bibenzyl, namely 4,5,4'-trihydroxy-3,3'-dimethoxybibenzyl, was isolated, along with four known compounds which included brittonin A, moscatilin, syringaresinol, and ferulic acid. All of these isolates showed appreciable DPPH free radical scavenging potential, except for brittonin A, which was devoid of activity.
متن کاملModulations in seed micromorphology reveal signature of adaptive species-diversification in Dendrobium (Orchidaceae)
During speciation in flowering plants, many morphological characters were evolved in response to continuous selection pressure. Such characters are largely governed by genetic changes or get modulated according to ecological adaptations. To explore the potential of latter, a novel comparative analysis of seed micromorphology and ultrastructure was performed in twenty species in the genus Dendro...
